Refund Policy

Transparent guidelines for donation cancellations and refund requests.

Our Commitment: We aim to make the donation process as simple, secure, and trustworthy as possible. If a technical payment error occurs, we will do our best to resolve it quickly and fairly.

General Policy

Donations made to Rainbow Foundation are voluntary contributions to support our charitable programmes. As a general rule, completed donations are non-refundable because funds are immediately committed to our ongoing programmes and operational costs.

However, we understand that errors can occur. We evaluate each refund or cancellation request on a case-by-case basis and strive to respond promptly and fairly.

Cancellation Before Payment

If you close the payment window or navigate away before your payment is confirmed, no amount will be charged. A payment is confirmed only after you receive a donation confirmation email from Rainbow Foundation. If you are unsure whether your payment went through, please contact us before attempting to donate again.

Eligible Refund Scenarios

We will process a refund in the following technical error situations:

a) Duplicate Payment

If your bank or card was charged more than once for a single donation due to a technical error, we will refund the duplicate amount in full once verified. Please provide bank statements or screenshots showing both charges.

b) Erroneous Amount

If a technical glitch caused a significantly different amount to be charged than you intended (e.g., ₹10,000 instead of ₹1,000), we will refund the excess upon verification, or refund the full amount if you prefer.

c) Payment Debited but Not Acknowledged

If your bank account was debited but you did not receive a confirmation email or receipt from us, it is possible the payment did not reach us. Contact us within 7 days. We will check our records and, if no donation was received, request Razorpay to investigate. If confirmed that funds were deducted from your account but not received by us, the amount will be refunded or re-credited per Razorpay's dispute resolution process.

Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds will not be issued in the following cases:

  • Change of mind after a successful donation has been processed.
  • Donation made to an incorrect cause (e.g., you intended to donate to a different programme) — we encourage you to contact us, and we will try to re-allocate funds internally where possible.
  • Requests made after 30 days from the date of the donation transaction.
  • Donations for which an 80G receipt has already been issued and the donor has claimed or intends to claim a tax deduction.

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, email us at info@rainbowfoundationindia.org with the subject line "Donation Refund Request" and include the following information:

  1. Your full name as used during the donation.
  2. Email address used for the donation.
  3. Date and amount of the donation.
  4. Razorpay Payment ID (found in your confirmation email or bank statement).
  5. Reason for the refund request, with any supporting screenshots or documents.
We will acknowledge and review your request within 3 business days.

Refund Processing Time

Rainbow Foundation reviews & approves request 3–5 business days
Razorpay initiates the refund 1–2 business days after approval
Refund credited to your bank / card 5–10 business days (depends on bank)
Total estimated time Up to 15 business days

Refunds are returned to the original payment method. We are unable to redirect refunds to a different account or payment instrument.

80G Tax Receipt Implications

If a refund is processed for a donation for which an 80G receipt was issued, the receipt will be void. You will receive a written notification of this. Please ensure you do not claim a tax deduction on a refunded donation.
